La Manchuela in Cuenca, in the south-east of the province, has Motilla del Palancar where the A-3 crosses the N-320, and Quintanar del Rey, with its furniture industry, and Villanueva de la Jara as farming towns. It sits halfway between Madrid and Valencia, and many of its trips head for the coast.

Which way it goes

From Motilla del Palancar the way to Madrid is the A-3, through Tarancón and Arganda; Quintanar del Rey and Villanueva de la Jara first join the motorway at Motilla. For Valencia, the same A-3 runs the other way.

Cuenca province has two airports within reach, one on each side: Barajas along the A-3 towards Madrid and Manises along the A-3 towards Valencia. None of its towns has a direct train to a terminal, and for pre-dawn flights a car is the only option that avoids sleeping away from home.

When demand peaks

• Holidays and long weekends (Easter, summer, long weekends and Christmas): At the start and end of holidays, transfers to Barajas from Tarancón and Cuenca increase, as do AVE travellers arriving at Fernando Zóbel and heading on to the villages. First-thing flights and trains are the first to be booked.

Tip: If you are flying from the south-east of the province, compare Barajas with Valencia airport: from Motilla or Quintanar del Rey, Manises can be closer.

Airport pickup

For arrivals, the driver waits in the terminal with a name sign and helps with your luggage. We track the flight number, so a delay costs nothing extra within the terminal’s complimentary waiting time.
