How do you arrange transport to a medical appointment in Madrid?
Book it as a return trip with waiting: the car drops you at the hospital door, waits during the appointment and brings you home. It is not an ambulance and there is no medical care on board: it is transport for a patient who can travel seated and unattended. You pay for the waiting time, not for two separate trips.

What is non-assisted medical transport?
It is transport for someone going to an appointment, a test or a treatment who can travel seated and needs no care during the journey. The vehicle is a private car with driver, not an ambulance: no stretcher, no oxygen, no medical staff.
If the patient needs to lie down, be monitored or receive any care on the way, this is not the right service and you need proper medical transport. It is a line worth being clear about before booking, not at the front door.
Is it worth having the car wait?
Almost always, yes. A forty-minute check-up leaves the car waiting, which is charged by the hour; but sending a second vehicle from the province means two more journeys, and at Madrid's bad hours that costs more than the wait.
For long procedures — a contrast MRI, a treatment session — it is usually better to agree a pickup time and have the car come back. We say which is better depending on the hospital and the hour: waiting at La Paz on a Tuesday morning is not the same as at Doce de Octubre on a Friday evening.
Can a companion come along?
Yes, and it is worth saying so when booking so the seats are counted. A companion does not change the price of the trip — you pay for the vehicle, not the seat — as long as they fit in the assigned car.
If the patient uses a folding wheelchair, say so too: it fits in a saloon's boot, but it has to be booked so the car leaves with the space free.
Do you provide an invoice for insurance or for a company?
Yes. With a tax ID and the name or company name we issue a full invoice, which is what insurers ask for to reimburse and companies to record the expense. If there are several trips a month — a course of treatment — they can be grouped into a single monthly invoice.

Does this count as the medical transport covered by public health services?
No. Scheduled medical transport under the public system is requested through the hospital or health centre and provided by a company licensed for it. This is a private car-with-driver service, contracted and paid for separately.
What if the appointment runs late?
It happens constantly, which is why you tell the driver from the tracking page or over WhatsApp. Waiting is billed for the actual time, not the planned time, and you do not lose the return trip for being late to the agreed hour.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes, and it is the usual case: a son, a daughter or the clinic itself books it. We need the traveller's phone number so we can tell them when the car arrives.
